Le French Wedding

It's hard to imagine a more idyllic location for a wedding than the French countryside or a couple more in love than my friends, Fiona and Sacha.

Because Sacha is English and Fiona is moving to the UK, they decided to hold the wedding in France. The location they choose was a little town called Autun, about three hours from Dijon. It would have been quicker if I hadn't booked the train to the wrong location and then Penny, Yoko and I had to pay 100 euros in a cab to get here but that's a story for another time!

Fiona isn't your typical bride. Usually dresses, flowers and fuss aren't really her thing. In fact she bought her wedding dress on ebay, they didn't have any rings until a day before the wedding and I wrote the name cards because I happened to have neat writing. But the day couldn't have been more perfect.

It rained. But that's good luck apparently and didn't hamper the spirits of the guests who'd flown from all over the world to be there. Who would have thought working at Sunrise would lead to a wedding in France!? Here is the crew reunited. From left - Penny, Yoko, Paula, Fiona, Ray and me.

The French DJ forgot to download the playlist of songs the Bride and Groom had spent months putting together. Instead there was plenty of eurotrash to choose from. I gave him a few pointers... which you can see he really appreciated!

One of the most wonderful aspects of the weddings was that the celebrations weren't confined to the wedding ceremony and reception, there was a week of lunches and dinners before the big day. This was on the Friday when Fiona's family and friends from Australia got together at their farmhouse for Fiona's last night as a 'miss'.

Here's where I stayed. A little French farmhouse with Paula and Rob, Maz and Aaron, Ray and Yoko. We woke up each day to a lovely breakfast of croissant and cheese and coffee and could rest each night in front of a fire with wine, pate and more cheese. Perfect.
