Because I didn’t want to stay in the campsite where 2,700 people share three showers, I opted instead for a hostel in town. So it ended up being me and six sparkies from Brisbane sharing the one dorm room. Their names included Maggot, Wazza, Sword and Sex if that gives you any indication. I’ve rarely been privy to so many conversations about balls and farting in one weekend and the added bonus that one of them brought a girl home last night. Let’s just say the ipod has come in very handy.
I came here to meet up with two mates from Bathurst, Pagey and Murph who are travelling around Europe in a minivan, but my Saturday morning I still didn’t have a phone number for either of them so I decided to brave the beer halls and try and find them. Ambitious plan but wouldn’t you know... walked into the first one and there they were! Found some more mates along the way I haven’t been for years including Matty Rankin and ended up having an awesome time.
The only real way to describe it, for those of you that haven’t been, is it’s like the Easter Show on steroids. You think it’s a cliché that Germans actually get dressed up in Lederhosen, play the tuba and eat pork knuckle but it’s true!
Convinced Pagey to try out some rides even though he’s petrified of heights!! Who would have thought it from the big man.
The view from the top of the chair ride. Pagey had turned green by this stage.
Second day was a little more interesting. Matty suffered a stein injury when a girl smashed her glass and a bit landed in his hand. Two stiches and 392 euros later he was all stitched up.
While outside the infirmary, we became a laughing stock due to Walshy passing out. A newspaper photographer even took our photo so keep an eye on the daily German papers just in case. Now there's something to be proud of!
My only regret.. I didn't get one of those lederhosen outfits for myself. Maybe next year!

Oh how I miss Crankin Rankin!
Good times Weens - you can't beat being around a CSU crowd for a piss up!
I must say tho, Bonnie and Karla do win for their costumes last year!
xx
Love the hats Bean. Looks like you are having a blast.
392 Euros, those are some bloody expensive stitches.
